This photo is a shot taken in 1953 of clouds that appeared above Denver1), Colorado in America. Clouds patterns identical to those seen in our experiment are captured clearly.

The instability that accompanies this current is thought to occur frequently in the atmosphere, however as the atmosphere is transparent, those currents are not normally visible.

Despite the fact we cannot see it, these vortexes are always churning the atmosphere up and down. This type of turbulence is called

CAT

( Clear Air Turbulence), and is a significant hindrance to the flight of airplanes.
